Minimalist Style
What is minimalism? Minimalism describes a style which is distinguished by the severity of clarity, means and form as well as the simplicity in structure and texture. It is the art of expressing a complex topic with few simple objects or geometric figures and the elimination of forms and elements that are not necessarily needed. In history minimalism is known as a movement primarily ruling in the 1960s and the early 1970s in diverse forms of art and design such as visual art, music, architecture, literature and many more. It is influenced by Modernism and said to be the counterpart of Abstract expressionism. In design a minimalist artwork is easy to describe but difficult to make. Minimalism is an art form that thrives on simplicity – yet it’s anything but simple when it comes to the creative process. Through the use of symbolism, precise forms, reduced elements, and thoughtfully-chosen colors, many artists and studios tirelessly work to take an elaborate concept and present it in a straightforward, yet novel, manner. The most important component of minimalist art is arguably the viewer’s reaction to such art because, in the end, an artist’s audience must be able to take what they’re given, interpret it, and figure out what the overall message is. In order for an artist to get such an idea or concept across, they must put faith in their audience, working with them to bring their vision to life. The Minimalist Style while looks simple, but is anything but it takes an impressive amount of creative depth. And artistic vision.For Instance the work of Mrs Favre maybe simple, but it is far easy! Malika Favre is a French Illustrator based in London with a penchant for the “Less Is More” maxim. Looking at her body of work this becomes visibly apparent as illustration after illustration displays vivid colors & patterns across swathes of negative space. Maybe its the eyes, or the mouth or maybe just the pose. the ultimate objective is to convey your chosen emotion ... bottom line.
