What is a MandalaA mandala is a design within a circle. It symbolizes the universe. The mandala
originated in the region of the Himalayan Mountains, but people all over the world create these beautiful symmetrical designs. A mandala can have many meanings and often reflects beauty of nature and personal significance to the artist. A completed mandala should convey peace and joy to the viewer. The word mandala is taken from the Sanskrit language which can be roughly translated as “circle”. But the meaning of mandala is not restricted to a simple shape but represents a more complex meaning. The mandala stands for a cosmic diagram that signifies wholeness and can be seen as a model symbolizing the configuration of life. Radial Symatry Symatry is having exactly similar parts facing each other or around an axis, like a buterfly. Radial symmetry is the repitition of similar lines, shapes and forms around a central axis. Mandalas are a great example of this type of symatry. their designs are repeated around the center point in each "pizza slice". What is a color wheel COLOR WHEEL
A color wheel (also referred to as a color circle) is a visual representation of colors arranged according to their chromatic relationship.it is a illustrative organization of color hues around a circle, which shows the relationships between primary colors, secondary colors, tertiary colors etc. Yellow, yellow-orange, orange, orange-red, red, red-purple, purlpe, violet, blue, blue green, green, green - yellow. COLOR TERMINOLOGY Primary Colors: Colors at their basic essence; those colors that cannot be created by mixing others.secondary colors Secondary Colors: Those colors achieved by a mixture of two primaries. Tertiary Colors: Those colors achieved by a mixture of primary and secondary hues. Complementary Colors: Those colors located opposite each other on a color wheel. Analogous Colors: Those colors located close together on a color wheel. |
ProjectStudents will create a mandala by creating one Triangle design composed of at least 3 shapes and 3 curved lines and 5 straight lines. From this design student will create a radial symmetrical design around a center access point. Students will then change the colors of each line and shapes to mimic a analogous or complementary color scheme,
