The final exam will be made up of 4 parts;
  1. A  Portfolio of your work (5 pieces) 
  2. Final Proposal Questions
  3. Prepped Picture of the Final
  4. A finished Final Project.

The Portfolio 



Final portfolios are opportunities for students be creative as they reflect on, describe, analyze, and interpret their own work and learning from this year. In addition this project should give students the opportunity to create a well rounded portfolio outlining their interests and skills outside the art room. This is an opportunity for students to articulate their learning and their realities in their own words as they create a product of personal and emotional value.
Your portfolio will consist of 4 parts WITH A FOCUS ON THE ART PORTION.  Each part will have an essential question that you will answer with ….
  • A title page
  • A resume
  • Extracurriculars and hobbies
  • 5 artworks, that answer the Essential Questions bellow
    • A artwork example 
      • Artwork must be yours
      • Must be high resolution and not warped
      • Must answer the essential question
    • A short, but insightful written description of how that artwork fits/ answers the Essential question
      • States what the project was, and how they accomplished it
      • Gives a little review on how they did 
      • Must have at least 2 specific references how the artwork answers the essential question. 
Please note that you will also be graded on the overall aesthetic of the portfolio, ie placement, color, font etc. 



The Essential Questions to Answer with artwork 
  1. Which artwork demonstrates a successful use of the Art Elements and Principles of Design?  
    1. The elements of art are color, form, line, shape, space, and texture. The principles of design are scale, proportion, unity, variety, rhythm, mass, shape, space, balance, volume, perspective, and depth
  2. Which artwork do you feel demonstrates the most creativity?
  3. Which artwork do you feel demonstrates the most technical skill? 
  4. Which artwork do you, did you feel was the most challenging? Are you proud that you persisted? 
  5. Your Final Porject:   How does your final artwork show improvement? 


We will be completing this using Canva.  You are free to use the template i’ve prepared for you or completely make up your own.

The Final Project Overview

 The final project of the semester is meant to really showcase students' improvement in skills and creativity. Throughout the year we have built not only your skill, but also your artistic vision.  Projects increased in difficulty as the year progressed and built upon each other. This Final project in essence is meant to help reflect and create an artwork that demonstrates your growth.  

 
THE FINAL PROJECT: ASSIGNMENT

 What is the subject matter of an artwork? The term subject in art refers to the recognizable image that is represented in the artwork. Your assignment for your final project is to choose a past project ( from the list below) and  “redo” it features a different subject.  For example, instead of doing a close up flower for the Georgia O'keefe painting, you can choose to do a close up/ zoomed in portrait.

The overall idea is for you to showcase what you’ve learned and how you have improved through artistic vision, creativity, and technical skill.  You will have at least 3 weeks of class time to complete this project.  
The final project is really a project you have done before, but you are now tasked with doing  it again, but better.  For this final project, a lot should remain the same for you: the programs, class time, etc.  What will be different is the fact that I am not going to provide any specific tutorial, (please note that all old tutorials are available on mrsras.com and google classroom) I am also not going to break each day down into daily tasks with demos.  You must manage your time and what needs to be done.  What I will do is have some checkpoint assignments with corresponding due dates.

Choose one of the past projects and complete a New and improved artwork ( inspired by) it IN SCHOOL during the remainder of the school year!

Requirements 
  1. must be fully painted (blocked and blended) 
  2. must have a sense of value and form
  3. must have a likeness to what you are creating
  4. Show growth artistically and technically from the collage animals
  5. must show good work ethic

  1. create a vector portrait using at least 20 shapes in illustrator/ gravit
  2. must use the pen tool with precision artful crafting each shape
  3. must be a completely finished work with a background
