Bansky: Street Art
|
About BanskyBanksy is Arguably the most controversial street artist in the world. His has appeared around the world in America, Australia, Canada, England, France, Israel, Jamaica and Palestine. Wherever Banksy goes, he makes an impact. His pictorial and satirical messages cross the boundaries between art, philosophy, politics, sociology, humor and narcissism. Banksy has developed quite a following and has become very popular. His Street art arts even been torn out and become framed gallery art that has gone for exuberant amount of money.
Part of Banksy popularity may be attributed to the fact that his identify has never been revealed. Very little is known about Banksy himself, as he refuses to be interviewed and keeps his identity carefully maintained. A world-renowned man if mystery. His style of Street ArtThe most common style that Banksy uses for his art is stencils . The stencil style aesthetic is achieved by a grouping of positive and negatvive shapes that then create an image. Stencil graffiti uses stencils made out of paper, cardboard, or other media to create an image or text that is easily reproducible. The desired design of negative shapes is cut out of the selected medium creating “Holes” in the media. The artist then either rolls or sprays paint through "Holes" or positive area to create their artwork.
Bansky began developing this graffiti style through some trial and errors. After nearly being caught by the "Fuzz" ie the law. While vandalizing public spaces he and his “crew” where found by police. As his crew fled from the scene, Banksy was stuck hiding beneath a garbage truck. It was at this time that Banksy saw stencil letters on the truck. Looking for a faster way to paint, Banksy decided stenciling would be his new graffiti type. Bansky's Art Characterisitcs Bansky's art have some xidentify charactersitics that make his art undiniably his! 1. High contrast stencil imagery. Most of his images are simp on two shapes "the abifried down to two tones 1, solute lights" and 2,"Absolute Shaddows" 2. He uses a very limited color palet. MAinly he works on with black and white and maybe a single color for empasis. 3. His subject matters are "important". the image that he place either has a comentary or a tie to the place it being "taged" on. For example he placed the "Flower Bomer" on the Gaza wall to act a comentary to the palastinian, isralei confilct therefor bing important to the area.. He also sometmes wi,, create just funny or tongue and cheel subjects. We bleive Banksy to have a good senese of humor so this type of art we can only assume is important to him |
